In Loving Memory of My Grandma, Alice Weiner

My Grandma, Alice Weiner (July 14, 1926 - March 31, 2011) was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2004. My Grandma was a very active woman, playing tennis, swimming, walking and exercising well in to her 70s.


She moved in with us in July 2010 after a bad fall. Her balance issues were a result of the Parkinson's Disease. As the disease progressed, Grandma became less and less active although she diligently did some form of exercise several times a week. She even walked around the track where I play soccer and worked her way up to one half mile.


Grandma had one last fall on Tuesday, March 29. She died peacefully early this morning.

I am very grateful that I had the chance to know my Grandma better over the past 8 months. I know she loved me very much and I had the opportunity to tell her how much I loved her one last time when I visited her in the hospital.


My hopes are to help raise enough money so other kids don't have to lose their Grandparent to this disease.
